Many Everton fans are buzzing after their club shared footage on Twitter star forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin back in training.
Calvert-Lewin scored 21 goals in all competitions last season and scored three of three in the Premier League early in this campaign, before breaking his toe and injuring his quadriceps.
In his absence, the Toffees lacked an outstanding scorer.
In fact, despite missing his last 13 games in all competitions, the England international is only two goals behind co-top scorers Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray.
Relative difficulties in front of goal and even bigger problems at rear ensure Rafa Benitez’s side are currently in 13th place in the table ahead of a busy series of fixtures.
Therefore, it’s a big boost that DCL is out on the grass and working out his fitness.
Everton tweeted Friday, three images of him at Finch Farm captioned “Returning to the field training individually,” followed by muscle emojis and hourglasses.
Given that he is training away from the main group, it is clear that a return to Premier League action is not imminent for Calvert-Lewin.
However, it’s a big step in the right direction for a player who is key to Everton’s hopes to move up the rankings in the second half of the season.
When he comes back to the squad he has the ability to do the kind of run that would lift the whole club and given the Premier League’s opener this season, it wouldn’t take a record winning streak to make the situation happen. des Toffees is much rosier.
They are currently just a few points from the top half and six behind sixth-placed Man United.
Therefore, it’s no wonder that the sight of Calvert-Lewin on the move at Finch Farm has excited more than a few fans.
