Hyundai Motor has released images of the Ioniq 6, the second car from the all-electric brand Ioniq.
As part of Hyundai Motor’s new design concept, which the company describes as “electrified aerodynamics”, the features of the electric vehicle (EV) are decidedly aerodynamic.
The exterior of the Ioniq 6 was based on the Prophecy EV concept, a design presented at the Seoul Mobility Show 2021.
The Ioniq 6, which will be available in Korea later this year, will be Hyundai Motor’s second electric vehicle to be manufactured on E-GMP, a standardized electric vehicle configuration that includes the battery, basic chassis, engines, axles, wheels and suspension.
The EV features parametric light pixels in more than 700 locations, such as the headlights, rear combination lights, front lower sensors, air vent trims and center console indicator.
It also comes with a new thin, flat aluminum emblem. The new emblem will be on cars introduced by Hyundai Motor in the future, the company said.
The interior has been designed with sustainable materials, such as recycled PET polyester fabrics, while the carpet is made from recycled fishing nets. Special paints derived from vegetable oils are used on the doors, while the pigments come from used tires and bamboo charcoal.
The two-tone ambient lighting system is capable of emitting 64 different color combinations to help drivers and passengers feel relaxed and at ease.
“Ioniq 6 is an emotional convergence of functionality and aesthetics,” said Lee Sang-yup, executive vice president and director of Hyundai Design Center. “The distinctive sleek design is the culmination of cooperation between engineers and designers of the electric vehicle era.”
Full specs will be released in a virtual world premiere in July.
