Waiting for the sixth and last Peaky Blinders the season is almost over, and new footage released by the BBC (which you can see on Weekly entertainment) shows all the characters that will come together for Tommy Shelby’s final ride.
The life of the protagonist has been one hell of a ride to witness the British gangster show. But every story has an ending, and for Tommy, that ending is catching up with him sooner than most fans initially assumed.
The promo images are mostly character shots that show us what the protagonists will look like in the final season. Tommy has mostly kept his MP clothes, while Ada Thorne has really matured in age and looks just like her season one character. Meanwhile, Michael Gray continues to imitate his cousin Tommy, both in fashion and in drunken choice.
The upcoming sixth series, consisting of the usual six episodes, will pick up the narrative where the previous outing left off, with Oswald Mosley rising through the political ranks and featuring the British Union of Fascists and Tommy Shelby alongside him as as a double agent for Winston Churchill.
Tommy was supposed to assassinate Mosley with the help of Churchill and an Alfie Solomons, though the antagonist caught wind of the plot and unraveled it before it materialized. Having been defeated, the Birmingham Peaky Blinders frontman will now have to find another way to beat Mosley before he can retire properly.
As revealed by showrunner Steven Knight, the original plan was for the series to end with the start of World War II, but it appears the writer has now abandoned those plans, with the final season going far beyond the world conflict.
No one knows where Tommy figures in this shot and how his story ends at this time. Peaky Blinders season six will air on February 27.
