Pictures show the wreckage of the crash that killed 2 people, including a 4-year-old child, in Laredo

A few days after the fatal accident that claimed the lives of two people in Laredo, images of the wreckage are released.

The Texas Department of Public Safety released two images on Monday showing extensive damage to a pickup truck that allegedly crashed into the back of a parked tractor-trailer.

The first image shows the blue and gray Dodge Ram 1500 with extensive damage, including the vehicle’s roof collapsed inward. The second shows the rear of the semi-trailer lying relatively unscathed as pieces of the truck are strewn across the area.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said on Sunday that five people were inside the truck at the time of the crash, two of whom died from the crash.

The deaths included Maria Matiana Ramirez, 27, of Roma and Jeremiah Ramon, 4.

The incident occurred on Interstate 35, near milepost 20 on the southbound lane.

DPS said the preliminary investigation showed heavy rains caused the van to lose control and reverse a semi-trailer, which at the time was parked on the shoulder.

The driver of the semi-trailer was not injured.
