A pervert stored thousands of gruesome images of child sexual abuse during Scotland’s first coronavirus lockdown.
Gordon Gray uploaded and accumulated horrific videos of abused toddlers, babies and young boys.
He had downloaded and stored nearly 5,000 files on an Asus laptop that was lying on his bed when police arrived to investigate.
The sickening hiding place had been put together between February 15 and October 22 of last year.
Between March 23 and May 29, Scotland was subject to lockdown restrictions, to stop the spread of the deadly Covid-19 virus.
The 36-year-old was surprised with the 4,779 images at his home, Kilmarnock Sheriff Court has learned.
Details emerged on Monday when Gray, from Ardrossan, North Ayrshire, appeared on the quayside of the East Ayrshire courthouse for a pre-trial hearing.
He pleaded guilty to two counts – downloading indecent images of children and possession of illegal files – in violation of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982.
Prosecutor Craig Wainwright told Sheriff Murdo Mactaggart that Scottish police officers obtained a search warrant for Gray’s home “as a result of the information received”.
He explains: âThe accused was alone on the property.

âA search for the locus has been done.
âA number of devices were recovered, but in particular an Asus laptop was over the bed in the bedroom.
“It was examined by agents from the Cyber ââCrime team. They recovered both still and moving images.”
Mr. Wainwright testified that there were a total of 3,161 indecent images and 1,618 movies uploaded, but all deleted.
Of the 4,779 files, 986 were rated as Category A images – showing the most extreme forms of child sexual abuse.
He added: “They showed the sexual exploitation of male and female children between the ages of one and 14.”
Sheriff Mactaggart has requested that basic reports be prepared before conviction, including a risk assessment, and has adjourned the case until next year.
Gray was put on the sex offender registry.
